95´05 TERRITORIES, IDENTITIES, NETS - Slovene Art 1995-2005
The exhibition is dedicated to Igor Zabel (1958-2005)

Curators: Igor Zabel, Igor Spanjol

9.08. - 9.10.2005

The exhibition is the third part of an extensive exhibition project aimed at presenting Slovene art since 1975. This final exhibition examines the developments in art during the last decade and the tendencies in artistic production today. Fundamentally, this art could be said to be characterized by the rejection of the idea of an autonomous and immutable art object and its transformation into a spatial installation, a multi-media work, a process, or a situation. This has brought in its wake new, active relationships between a work and its audience. The art of the last decade has expanded into the social space, making use of, and critically reflecting on, the new media and available technologies. Artists often reflect on their role in the society, and develop critical, political, and resistance strategies through their work. Other fields of creativity, such as architecture, design, music, the performing arts, etc., have been instrumental in this development, and their contacts with contemporary art practices have impacted the ways in which they have evolved.
